Book Launch and Graduation Party Held in the Department of English

On June 25th 2017, the 2017 graduates from the Department of English welcomed a very special event in Room 101 of School of Foreign Languages as part of their graduation celebration. Two anthologies, Under a Clear Sky by the graduating students and Shared Moon, a joint anthology by some graduating students and some students from RMIT University in Australia, were launched at the same time.

Professor Dai Fan, co-editor-in-chief of the anthologies and a leading scholar in creative writing in English as a foreign language, remarked that those two anthologies were the special gifts for the 2017 English graduates. She also thanked Professor Francesca Rendle-Short and her students at RMIT University for editing the anthologies and their great efforts. Austin Woerner and Nazli Inal, foreign instructors of creative writing, were also there to launch the anthologies.

2017 Graduates from the Department of English

Following the Book Launch, 2017 graduate Carolina Huang’s brilliant Ukulele performance opened the farewell party. The party reached its climax when everyone took to the stage and shared stories of their time at Sun Yat-sen University. Some said it was a very memorable moment to reflect on these four years, to stay grateful and to look ahead. Professor Dai Fan and Associate Professor Lei Yanni expressed their best wishes to the students’ future.
