Foreign Language Teaching Center (FLTC)

The FLTC is responsible for teaching the compulsory course Public English to about 13,000 undergraduates and over 3000 postgraduates at Sun Yat-sen University. The courses offered by FLTC are positioned as "the way of communication, the wing of academia and the bridge of culture". The FLTC aims at enhancing students' proficiency in academic English speaking, writing, and translation, as well as international business communication so as to increase students' international academic and professional competitiveness. The FLTC also encourages students to read the classics and take part in intercultural communication. Currently the FLTC is promoting the "Excellent English" programme which offers a new educational mode of cultivating innovative talents.
