Five SYSU Professors Newly Selected as Chair Professors of Chang Jiang Scholars Program

Source: News CenterRecently, the list of Chair Professors and Visiting Professors of Chang Jiang Scholars Program of 2011 was officially released by the Ministry of Education. Five professors in SYSU were listed as Chair Professors, including HE Xionglei, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; HUANG Guowen, Professor of English Language and Literature; MA Jun, Professor of Administration Science; WENG Jianping, Professor of Internal Medicine; and YU Xueqing, Professor of Internal Medicine. By now, SYSU is home to 41 Chang Jiang Scholars.
The new Chang Jiang Scholars Program was launched in 2011 by the Ministry of Education. As an important part of the national major talent project, it constitutes the national high-level talent cultivation and support system, together with the “Recruitment Program of Global Experts” and the “Young Talents Development Program”. After recommendation by the universities, review by the Ministry of Education, defense in the conference, public announcement of the nominees, examination by the evaluation committee and signing contract of employment between the universities and the nominees, a total of 241 professors were selected in the Chang Jiang Scholars Program of 2011, including 194 Chair Professors and 47 Visiting Professors.
