2013 SYSU International Summer Program completed with success

Source: News CenterRecently, the 2013 SYSU International Summer Program, co-hosted by Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Lingnan College, School of Chinese as a Second Language, School of Government and School of Foreign Languages, completed with success. 42 students from 21 universities, including University of Cologne, University of Glasgow, National University of Singapore and Seoul National University, participated in the program. 11 SYSU students attended the program as their “Buddies” to help them get along.

The program lasted three weeks. Several professors including Professor Chang Chenguang, Professor Dai Fan from School of Foreign Languages, and Professor Wang Yanming, Vice Dean Zhang Yanmei from Lingnan College taught the students. The courses covered Chinese Language, Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Opera, Urban Management in China as well as traditional Chinese culture such as paper cutting, calligraphy and Tai Chi.
In addition to taking the courses, the students visited Hutchison Whampoa Guangzhou Baiyunshan Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd, and Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd to experience Guangzhou’s dynamic economy. They also paid a visit to Guangdong Province Museum, the Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum and Foshan Zumiao Museum to experience the unique Lingnan Culture.
The International Summer Program provided the exchange students with an opportunity to get to know about China and SYSU as well as a platform to interact with SYSU students. At the end of the program, many students expressed their wish to visit SYSU again or their plans to study at SYSU in the future.
