Abstract: Hong Shen’s rewriting of Sir James Matthew Barrie’s Dear Brutus is an important yet largely ignored piece of work in the history of China’s drama and theatre translation. Borrowing ideas from the contemporary movement of spatial criticism, this talk explores translation strategies in terms of spatial transition, and reflects upon the role of drama and theatre translation in the construction of new cultural spaces.
