Abstract
The discipline of translation studies is experiencing rapid expansion, and this is accompanied by the proliferation of related journals. The evolving academic landscape is characterized by increasing interaction among editors, authors, and readers to facilitate knowledge sharing on a global scale. Translation studies is inherently interdisciplinary, and many unresolved or less than satisfactorily resolved research areas present major challenges to its further development. This talk will take account of the overriding need to probe the interactive relationship between the production of journals and the development of translation studies by providing an overall contextual framework for evaluating the field. It will also discuss some facets of journal publishing in relation to ways in which translation scholars can create publishable research.
