Professor R. Malatesha Joshi is a professor of Reading, Educational Psychology and ESL at Texas A&M University, United States. His research interests include bilingualism and biliteracy, differential diagnosis and intervention of reading and spelling problems, literacy acquisition in different languages, orthography and dyslexia. He has published in the areas of psycholinguistics, bilingualism, and cognitive science. He edited the Handbook of orthography and literacy (2006, Lawrence Erlbaum Associates) and co-edited Becoming a professional reading teacher (2008, Paul H. Brookes). He was a visiting scientist at the University of Potsdam and Goethe University, in Germany, University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, and University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. Joshi is the founding Editor of Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal. He also currently serves on the editorial boards of six additional journals; these are the Dyslexia: An international Journal, the Scientific Studies of Reading, Journal of Literacy Research, Reading Psychology, Journal of Learning Disabilities, and Annals of Dyslexia.
