From September 1984 to July 1988, Qiu Yafen studied in the Department of Japanese, Xi’an Foreign Languages Institute, China, and earned her Bachelor of Arts. From April 1991 to 1997, she studied in Japan and gained her Master of Arts and completed the PhD course at Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture, Niigata University. In 2003, she received her Doctor of Arts in Japanese Literature at Graduate School of Humanities, Fukuoka University, Japan and Doctor of Arts in Chinese Literature at the Department of Chinese, Sun Yat-sen University, China in 2007.
From August 1988 to March 1991, Qiu Yafen taught at the Department of Tourism, Xi’an Foreign Languages Institute. In 1997, she was employed by School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen University, and subsequently became lecturer, associate professor, professor, Head of the Department of Japanese and PhD. Supervisor. In 2002, she was selected as a member of “Thousand-Hundred-Ten” Program, supported by Department of Education of Guangdong Province.
